Osborne recently revealed on LinkedIn that he's resigning from Jagex after fifteen years of editing content, narrative design with OSRS Gold, and lead design. It's a choice he made according to his own words, to "test his experiences in the rest of the industry." Osborne is leaving Jagex and is going straight to Square Enix on the publishing part, as a Senior Designer. He'll be in charge of "some amazing games" beginning with Outriders.

The revelation prompted Redditor FatNWackyRS to contact the Outriders on r/Outriders, with a short message about Mod Osborne and his reputation, describing him as the "warm friendly "Dad" face at Jagex." FatNWackyRS describes all the things Mod Osborne has been doing for the community over the years, and includes some clips, like appearing as Mod Elfborne to support Prifddinas (an Elf City in Runescape) in livestreams, joining and contributing to the vision of the company.

While some communities and gamers are upset over losing a prominent company image, FatNWackyRS invited other Runescape players to share their experiences. One commenter, notably, feels like they've had to win and lose in their time playing at both Runescape along with Outriders. Some were thrilled by this news, even those who were not familiar with Osborne prior to the glowing praise of one of the Runescape community.

Indeed, exactly what will happen on his portion of Outriders fence is yet to be determined, however the fans are aware of a number of positive things are coming towards the field. Outriders' Worldslayer expansion is due to be released in spring. It is expected to be released for the end of the year in addition to the fact that People Can Fly has a ton of other projects underway, including a new game in partnership with Square Enix. The question is whether Osborne will be involved in that, though, remains to be determined.
